Tashkent

Copy to all railwaymen

In view of the forthcoming union of Soviet Russia and Soviet Turkestan, it is essential immediately to strain all efforts for repair of locomotives and rolling-stock. The Council of Defence directs that all forces at depots and repair-shops should be mobilised for this purpose. The victory of the revolution and of the Red Army should be utilised to improve the economic life of Turkestan and Russia. Greetings to Red Turkestan.[1]

Lenin

Chairman, Council of Defence

  1. ↑ On September 1, 1919, a general meeting of trade unions was held in Tashkent. After hearing Lenin’s telegram, the meeting passed a resolution which stated: “...Red Tashkent, in the name of Red Turkestan, vows to fulfil all the assignments given us by the centre, and the red banner, proudly unfurled over Turkestan, will not falter in the hands of Red Tashkent.” = (Iz istorii grazhdanskoi voiny v SSSR, Vol. 2, 1961, p. 737.)
