Coenen, Philippe (1842-1892)â prominent figure in the Belgian working-class movement, shoemaker; secretary of the Antwerp newspaper De Werker; delegate to the Brussels Congress (1868), London Conference (1871) and the Hague Congress (1872) of the International, where he supported the Bakuninists; subsequently a founder of the Belgian Socialist Party.
