Postscript to the Appeal to Hungarian Internationalists

This postscript was written to Bela Kunâs appeal on behalf of the Soviet Government of Hungary to the Hungarian soldiers serving in the Red Army. âYou, Hungarian internationalists,â the appeal stated, âwho are fighting on Russian soil against the bands of Kolchak and counter-revolution, are also fighting for the Hungarian Soviet Republic just as your comrades are doing in Hungary, for Hungary and Russia today form a single whole.â This appeal was issued in April 1919 in Hungarian and promulgated on the civil war fronts.
The Central Party Archives of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism of the CC of the CPSU have the text of the postscript in Russian in the handwriting of L. M. Karakhan. It runs: âI whole-heartedly support the appeal of our Magyar comrades. I hope the interests of the international cause will come first with our Magyar comrades, We must hold out another few months and victory will be assured. Leninâ.
I fully subscribe to the text of the appeal and believe that the Hungarian proletarians at the fronts will bear in mind that another few months of struggle for the interests of the international proletariat will bring us victoryâa victory that will be decisive and real.
