Note from MECW :
Marx's letter to Joseph Dietzgen dated 9 May 1868, is not extant in full. The date has been established on the basis of Dietzgen's reply written on 20 May. Eight years later, Dietzgen had his article 'Sozialdemokratische Philosophie' printed by Der Volksstaat newspaper (No. 3, 9 January 1876), in which he quoted the excerpt given here.
