Dear Friend:
Thank you very much for your letters, especially for the important report upon the congress. As yet I have not received anything except your report; not one letter, not one document.
I am sending you a long article on the international situation, etc., also the recording of a speech of fifteen minutes. I was very busy and accomplished the whole story with the speech very hastily. Upon another occasion I promise to do better.
Now I am again absolutely absorbed by the book, at least for six weeks. Then possibly I shall devote a week more to party questions.
Concerning the documents, please guard them with complete security. When the complete archives come I will ask Glenner to put them in order, but now it is not necessary that he lose his time for this partial work.
I am very glad that you appreciate optimistically the party situation and I hope with you that everything will go ahead satisfactorily. It seems that the conjuncture is improving. During the last two months I have not followed the economic life of the States closely and cannot judge if this improvement is more or less durable. In any case even a short economic improvement is a plus for our party. We are too weak for an immediate critical situation. We can and will use even a short postponement of the denouement. On the other hand, the mitigation of the crisis will be favorable for the party treasury and will permit you to establish your own printing shop, which is an elementary requisite for serious work.
Warmest greetings from Natalia and me to you and Rose.
Yours fraternally,
L. Trotsky
