The name Jacob Schiff means nothing to me. Is Mr. Schiff in the United States?

In 1917 I was in the States from January to March. After the outbreak of the revolution I held meetings. There were collections of money for the return of the exiles to Russia. I, personally, had nothing to do with this money. I do not know whether among the contributors there was anyone by the name of Jacob Schiff or not; but this is only a theoretical possibility. I, personally, never received money from Jacob Schiff.

In order to avoid any possible misunderstanding, I must add that if some gentleman who was unknown to me had transmitted five or ten dollars through me for the exiles, I could have forgotten it. However, if it had been 100 or 500 dollars, I could not forget it, because at that time such a sum was a great deal in my eyes. If Mr. Coughlin indicated an important sum then it must be a pure invention.
