  1. In a telephone message on January 18, 1920, People’s Commissar for Health N. A. Semashko reported that the troop train with B. S. Weissbrot’s Sanitary Commission, which was sent to the Southern Front and the Ukraine to combat typhus, was proceeding very slowly. “I request,” wrote Semashko, = “1) an immediate order for the train to be speeded up, = 2) special supervision over it, = 3) investigation of the causes of delay and a trial of those to blame by a revolutionary tribunal.” = (Collected Works, Fifth Ed., Vol. 51, p. 404.)
