From inside the fortress won by the proletariat Stalin deals socialism such blows as no one has yet dealt. If anyone sabotages the economic and cultural development of the USSR it is Stalin. If anyone undermines the military power of the USSR it is Stalin. If anyone poisons the ranks of the revolutionary vanguard by treachery and betrayal it is Stalin. Were united world reaction to seek an agent of its own choice, it could find no one more suited than Stalin. The Moscow trials represent the lone attempt in history to deceive all mankind. However, if there is no limit to baseness, there is a limit to gullibility. Strangled thought and horrified conscience are awakening. Progressive mankind is preparing to disgorge the venom of Stalinism. In our thoughts Natalia and I are present at your meeting of protest and challenge.
