Dear Berzin,

Many thanks for the credential received.[1] Please, if you don’t mind, send me immediately the same in French or in German, with a stamp on it, etc., in due form, and particularly with an addition in the text of the credential to the effect that not only has your party always been (and is) affiliated to the International Socialist Bureau (but has a delegate on it with a consultative vote). This is very urgent.

Best regards,

Yours,

V. Ulyanov

P.S. If you have received from us a manuscript draft of a brief declaration in Russian,[2] please pass it on to Litvinov as soon as you can, with a request to translate it into English and send it to me as soon as possible. Please send me a reply by postcard, so that I should know you have received this letter.

  1. ↑ A reference to the credential from the Lettish Social-Democratic Party for the Zimmerwald Socialist Conference. J. A. Berzin had not apparently intended to attend the conference at first and had handed the credential to Lenin.
  2. ↑ A reference to “The Draft Resolution Proposed by the Left Wing at Zimmerwald”.
