A Proposed Biography
Dear Friend,
Van showed me your letter. Allow me to give you a bit of advice. The book about me would be much better written after I have settled my affairs in this the best of all worlds. Not that I fear that I myself will change, but rather that others may change and retract what they have written in their articles. In any case, my most sincere thanks for your indispensable efforts.
I would be most happy to remain in permanent contact with you.
Best regards,
Leon Trotsky
