John Bellamy Foster

John Bellamy Foster, né le 19 août 1953, est un professeur de sociologie de l'université d'Oregon. Il est également rédacteur en chef de la Monthly Review. Ses écrits se concentrent sur l'économie politique du capitalisme et la crise économique, l'écologie et la crise écologique, et la théorie marxiste. Il est connu du public français depuis septembre 2011 avec son essai Marx écologiste aux éditions Amsterdam.

Il a publié plus d'une centaine d'articles, rédigé plus d'une douzaine de livres et plus d'une centaine de compte rendu de conférence. Il a été l'invité de conférences partout dans le monde. Il a reçu de nombreux prix et distinctions. Son travail est publié dans au moins vingt-cinq langues. Depuis l'éclatement de la grande crise financière en 2008, Foster est sollicité par des universitaires, des militants, les médias et le public en général à la suite de ses précédents écrits visionnaires sur la crise à venir.

Foster collabore souvent avec Robert W. McChesney. Plus récemment, il a coécrit avec McChesney The Endless Crisis: How Monopoly-Finance Capital Produces Stagnation and Upheaval from the USA to Chine, disponible dans Monthly Review en automne 2012.
