Radchenko, Chairman of the Central Board for the Peat Industry, of October 26, 1922, asking Lenin for help in acquiring abroad an improved peat-extracting machine made by Strohl & Co. in order to mechanise peat operations, and for allocating the necessary funds for its purchase and to cover the cost of sending a commission for testing the machine on the spot. On October 27, 1922, the Council of Labour and Defence decided to allocate from its reserve fund 7,000 gold rubles for the purpose.
