Search the content

You can browse the content starting by texts, authors, keywords, collections...

Whatever your starting point is, you can then filter by other criteria (authors, dates, keywords...).

🛈 Notes :

Add a text

Case of a simple article

  1. Go to page this page
  2. Enter the page name [Please respect title standards]
  3. Click Create or edit
  4. Fill in as much fields as possible [Dates, Collection...]
  5. Click Save page

Case of a series of articles

In the case of a series of articles of the same name but written on different dates, you can create each article as in the simple case above, and name them:

  • Article name (1)
  • Article name (2)
  • Article name (3)

Navigation arrows between articles will be added automatically, as in this example.

Case of a voluminous book

When a book is too large and can not fit on one page, it can be divided into several chapters. In this case, the structure is as follows:

  • A page containing information (author, date ...) as for an article, without text
    • A subpage for chapter 1
    • A subpage for chapter 2
    • A subpage for chapter 3

A sub page is a "daughter" page of the main page, delimited by a "/". In order to ensure that chapters are sorted in order, it is necessary to create an intermediate level of numbering (which will not appear in the summaries).

Thus the structure in terms of page names is as follows:

  • Book name
    • Book name/1/Preface
    • Book name/2/Chapter 1 name
    • Book name/3/Chapter 2 name

Here the «1/», «2/» won't be displayed. A navigation menu will be added automatically, as in this example.

🛈 Notes :

  • If there will be more than 9 subpages, make a double digit numeration numbering (01, 02...) otherwise you will get a messed sorting (1, 10, 2, 3...).
  • If you want to highlight in bold some titles in the summary (like in this page), add a '¤' character after the numbering (i.e : 01¤, 02, 03, 04¤, 05, 06...)

Below is example where the subpage for Chapter VI is added to the book The Holy Family :

Import a text from Marxists Internet Archive MIA-bannière.gif

  1. Go to this page
  2. Enter the page URL (http://...) in the field and click "Submit"
  3. You end up on the prefilled creation form (see above)

Add the mention of a missing text

Even if a text is not found (or incomplete) for the moment in a language, it is useful to create its page, checking the box "Not available". This makes it possible to integrate it into the database, to link it to possible versions available in other languages, to highlight the unavailable texts by simple search ...

To do this, add a text (see above), adding only the information and leaving the text field empty.

Edit a text with the visual editor

You can edit a page to correct or add something. To do this, in the top bar click on the icon edit.png.

The content of the texts is editable with the help of a word processing editor. The toolbar contains buttons with the usual formatting options (bold, italic, underline, superscript, lists, table...).

Pay attention in particular to the style formatting (in the far left of the toolbar), that allows you to switch current paragraph style :

  • "Paragraph" is normal style,
  • "Heading 2", "Heading 3" etc. are the different levels of titles / subtitles,
  • "Blockquote" is for an indented block, generally used for quotations or notes.

Do not mimic titles using bold formatting. Using the "Heading" styles is important because :

  • It generates the table of content at the beginning of the text, useful for the readers. (The hierarchy of the table of content is based upon the hierarchy of the headings styles).
  • It harmonizes the titles styles across the archive.

You can quickly remove all formatting in a text selection by clicking the button "Remove".

The button "Link" enables you to create a link on the selection. It opens a dialog popup that enables you to paste a link to an external website, or to another text on the archive. For this latter type of link, you can type the text name and you will see the exact names of the texts found on the wiki archive. Click on the result you were searching for to be sure the link points to the right target.

The reference button enables you to add a reference in footnote (the reference position will be where the cursor is). The arrow after the reference button displays two more options : Re-use an existing reference, and create a References block (the list of the footnotes - it should be at the end the page).

Be careful not to leave an editor "open" for a long time without saving your edits, in case there is any informatic issue.

Add links to other translations

Each page (text, author, keyword, collection ...) is intended to have a link to versions available in other languages. It is the english version that centralizes the links of the different translations.

For example, if you edit the Manifesto of the Communist Party page, you will be able to edit the translation links as below:

Export options

You can export any content to pdf, epub (for ebook readers) or odt (LibreOffice, Word...).

  • Direct PDF export : while reading the page you want to export, go in the left sidebar and click on the button you want (pdf, epub, odt).
  • Book creation (epub / odt / pdf) :
    • click on the book icon in the left sidebar ;
    • now you have a book creator assistant on top of the screen while browsing the wiki : use it to add pages to your book ;
    • when your book is finished, validate and choose your export options.

If you find a bug in the export, or have suggestions, send a mail to CourrielWiki.png

Other features

  • Use the template {{Lost}} to warn that a part of the text has been lost.
  • Use the template {{CrossedOut}} to indicate that a passage is crossed out in the manuscript.
  • Use the template {{See also}} to propose links to related texts.
  • Use the template {{TOC tab}} to add an item in the table of content that is not a heading.
