Letter to Grigori Zinoviev, Not earlier than July 30, 1916
Published: First published in 1964 in Collected Works, Fifth (Russian) Ed., Vol. 49. Sent from Flums to Hertenstein. Printed from the original.
Source: Lenin Collected Works, Progress Publishers, 1977, Moscow, Volume 43, pages 554b-555a
I have received the manuscript.
I am sending Neue Zeit+2 Austr. books (I shall ask for them again, but later on: will let you know).
We have written to James.[1][2]
As regards writing for the legal collection, Iâm afraid I wonât manage it.
Send me a list of the articles for our Sbornik.
You canât invite Guilbeaux to contribute: heâs a wind bag; we may disgrace ourselves. We had better wait.
Did you send Usiyevich Pod Starym Znamenem?
Fru Alexandra Kollontay.
Turisthotel. Holmenkollen.
Kristiania.
Did you send a formal letter to Bukharin offering him to publish a discussion article?[3] It is absolutely necessary to send him a formal letter and keep a copy (send it to me). A polite letter, of course, saying that we are replying to Radekâs theses in any case (to hint that he can wait until this discussion is over if he wants).
Have you a set of Nashe Slovo?
Since Konferenz has been substituted for Kriegs-Parteitagâthis smacks of a semi-deal with the Kautskyites.
What is this about your being unwell? You must go to Sahli without fail and strictly carry out doctorâs orders! Show this to Zina.
Salut!
Lenin
- â Anna Yelizarova-Ulyanova.âEd.
- â This refers to the letter to Anna Ulyanova-Yelizarova asking for information about the Volna Publishers and about the identity of P. Ryabovsky, who had offered Lenin and Zinoviev to contribute to the symposiums put out by this publishing house = (see Note 478).
- â Bukharin wrote an article âA Contribution to the Theory of the Imperialist Stateâ for Sbornik Sotsial-Demokrata, but owing to its fallacious anti-Marxist propositions on the question of the state and the dictatorship of the proletariat the article was rejected by the Editorial Board.
No. 1 of Sbornik Sotsial-Demokrata carried Radekâs âTheses on Imperialism and National Oppressionâ published in the journal Vorbote in April 1916 over the signature of the editors of Gazeta Robotnicza. Leninâs article âThe Discussion on Self-Determination Summed Upâ published in Sbornik directly after Radekâs theses was a reply to them.
