En mai 1908, [[Gustav_Landauer|Gustav Landauer]] forme une Ligue socialiste dont le but est ''« d'unir tous les humains qui veulent sérieusement réaliser le socialisme »''. Sa stratégie initiale était de réaliser le socialisme par la formation de [[coopératives|coopératives]] ouvrières et de communautés volontaires.
